Travel Behavior Modeling: Taxonomy, Challenges, and Opportunities

Personal daily movement patterns have a longitu-dinal impact on the individual’s decision-making in traveling. Recent observation human travel raises concerns of behavior changes many aspects. Many travel-related aspects like traffic congestion management and effective land-use were significantly affected by changes. Existing modeling (TBM) focusing assessing trends generate improvement insights for urban planning, infrastructure investment, policymaking. However, literature indicates limited discussions recent TBM adaptation towards future technological advances integration autonomous vehicles intelligent This survey paper aims to provide overview including notable classifications, emerging challenges, rising opportunities. In this survey, we reviewed analyzed recently published works from high-quality publication sources. A taxonomy was devised based characteristics guide classification analysis these works.
